Review: You’re The One That I Want by Giovanna Fletcher.

SAM_0384 After her hugely successful debut novel, Billy and Me, I was extremely excited to read You’re The One That I Want. So after returning from my recent vacation to Florida, I went straight out and bought it.SAM_0387

You’re The One That I Want is a love triangle of epic proportions involving Ben, Robert and Maddy. Three people from a small town who had been best friends from childhood. On a school trip to Paris, Maddy kisses one of the boys, leaving the other to love her in silence from a distance. We see the pining of one boy and the confusion of Maddy over the years. SAM_0385

You’re The One That I Want is wrote from all three perspectives of the trio, so we get to see the internal thoughts of everyone and not just one. However, my favorite thing about this book is how the wedding speeches of both Ben and Robert are split up into sections and appear at different intervals throughout the book (it took me a while to figure this out though).

SAM_0383Compared to how much I loved Billy and Me, I was slightly disappointed with Giovanna’s second novel. It just didn’t appeal to me and didn’t hook me in as much as Billy and Me did. However, overall, it is an excellent book, and I do urge people to read it. If you are outside of the UK you will have to purchase online as I don’t believe either You’re The One That I Want or Billy and Me have been published outside of the UK.

Keep reading xox.
